KATARA HOSPITALITY DONATES THE SHERATON DOHA RESORT & CONVENTION HOTEL’S FURNITURE AND FITTINGS TO QATAR CHARITY
Doha, Qatar 23 March 2014
Katara Hospitality, the leading hotel owner, developer and operator in the State of Qatar, has announced today an initiative to donate the furniture and fittings at the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel to Qatar Charity.
This donation is part of Katara Hospitality’s ongoing commitment to support social development programmes. Qatar Charity is the perfect recipient of this donation as it deploys major efforts to help needy individuals and families in Qatar. The initiative comes at a time when the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, Doha’s most iconic hotel, is witnessing major renovation and refurbishment work.
The management of Katara Hospitality highlighted that it will continue to support the local community and work with various local humanitarian organisations such as Qatar Charity to help the country’s underprivileged.
Youssef Ahmed Al Kuwari, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Charity stated: “Such donations are not uncommon for Katara Hospitality, and the company’s management and staff have always been keen to support the local community.
“We are very grateful for this generous contribution to the needy families in Qatar as it enables us to further develop projects for community improvement.”
The items donated by Katara Hospitality are offered for acquisition through Qatar Charity’s TAYF programme in the Industrial Area, Street 48, Gate 174, daily between 8.00 am and 10.00 pm, except on Friday mornings.
Similar initiatives between Qatar Charity and Katara Hospitality properties have taken place over the past few years. In 2011, the Ritz-Carlton Doha, in cooperation with Katara Hospitality and Fortessa Inc., donated 10,000 pieces of chinaware to Qatar Charity.
Over the last year, Katara Hospitality has organised a number of charitable initiatives to support the local community. These included a donation to Qatar Charity’s TAYF programme, a blood donation initiative in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation, a food package donation to 120 families and support for the Shafallah Centre for Children with Special Needs.
Earlier this month, Katara Hospitality announced a major renovation and refurbishment of the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel. The investment will see the full remodeling of all guest rooms, public areas, recreation facilities and the conference and meetings space. The hotel’s food and beverage offer will also be enhanced.
When it reopens, the newly renovated property will reflect perfectly the synergy between the striking 1970’s architecture of one of Doha’s most recognised landmarks, with all the style and functionality that is expected of a leading 21st century luxury hotel.
