KATARA HOSPITALITY AND ITS HOTELS IN DOHA ANALYSE FOOD SAFETY RESULTS FOR 2013

The HACCP teams of Katara Hospitality’s Doha-based hotels have recently met to discuss the results of 2013 food safety audits. The final scores were determined through internal auditing processes for food safety in line with the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points system (HACCP).
The annual review, comprising six separate audits for each property throughout the past year, were recently presented by Manager for Operational Risk, Mohammad Obeidat to an audience consisting of Katara Hospitality executives and hotels’ HACCP teams.
Six of Katara Hospitality’s Doha-based hotels underwent rigorous auditing process in areas including food safety documentation, food storing procedures, preparation and production areas and food and safety hygiene training. A total of 36 food safety audits were conducted last year ensuring that hotels in the company’s Doha portfolio met with internationally recognised HACCP standards while complying with the norms set by local municipalities.
“In a continuous effort to maintain best food safety and hygiene practices in its operating hotels, Katara Hospitality has developed a uniform set of guidelines that enable the Food & Beverage departments in our Doha hotels to maintain consistent standards in food handling” said Mohammad Obeidat, Manager for Operational Risk at Katara Hospitality.
Comprehensive internal audits to benchmark against industry best practices are regularly conducted in order to monitor and continuously improve performance.
“Within our Doha hotel portfolio, all six hotels achieved outstanding results, showing commitment for implementing the highest standards of hygiene and food safety in their operations”, Obeidat added.

The hotels participating in Katara Hospitality’s food safety and hygiene audits in 2013 are The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, Sharq Village & Spa, Doha Marriott Hotel, Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, Mövenpick Hotel Doha and Sealine Beach Resort.
