KATARA HOSPITALITY CELEBRATES NATIONAL SPORT DAY

– Employees join fun-filled programme of activities to promote healthy living at Simaisma, a Murwab Resort –

Employees from Katara Hospitality, the leading global hotel developer, owner and operator based in Qatar, today marked National Sport Day in an activity-filled programme at Simaisma, a Murwab Resort.

To honour the occasion of National Sport Day, which has been celebrated every second Tuesday in February since 2012, employees of Katara Hospitality employees Murwab Hotel Group together with their families, enjoyed competitive sporting games. Activities included departmental relay races, basketball ,football ,tennis ,badminton ,cricket and yoga. Attendants also participated in a roster of family-friendly games and activities which were designed to encourage people of all ages to raise their fitness levels through physical exercise. To mark the occasion of National Sport Day, winners among the participant pool were awarded medals and trophies for their efforts in the exercise-based competitions.

National Sport Day was instituted in a bid to highlight the role that sport plays in creating a physically and psychologically healthy community. On this day, government ministries and private sector organisations are encouraged to formulate physical activity based programmes which inspire members of society to adopt healthy habits.

The National Sport day festivities were hosted by Simaisma, a Murwab Resort and Six Senses Spa’s qualified yoga instructors who demonstrated an energising and relaxing Hatha and Hot Yoga sessions focused on both physical and mental well-being.

As part of the organisation’s employee welfare initiatives, Katara Hospitality properties regularly carry out exercise programmes designed to encourage wellness and an increase in physical activity among their employees.
